Behind The Scenes Look At Pixel-Trip.Com
What is Pixel-Trip all about?
Dan@Pixel-Trip: Pixel Trip is an entertainment website built around a community of allied artists. It has a wide range in content from Webcomics to Videos.
We have four main comics and two video sections. Animals in the Workplace is a web comic about anthropomorphic animals. It deals mostly with everyday life and pop culture. Demagogues and Cyberpuppies is a Sci-Fi comedy comic done in the three panel style of traditional Sunday Comics. The Harvest is a comic book style strip with Sci-Fi and B Movie themes. At Home is an experimental comic using a mix of photographs and cartoons. The videos are a bit different. Friday Skits are primarily created by Joe Scott and feature short comedy videos. Gaming by Rorskeet features video game reviews by Rory Ingolby.
Anthony@Pixel-Trip: We work very hard everyday to give our users what they are looking for. We will never rest until we are a true one stop shop for all entertainment.
Campbellionare@Pixel-Trip: I write the SoapBox. It’s not for the weak of heart, weak of mind, or weak of humor.
Who/What inspires your videos and cartoons?
Dan@Pixel-Trip: Personally my comic, Demagogues and Cyberpuppies, is mostly inspired by XKCD, Penny-Arcade, and PvP. Those are the three main comics I read consistently and emulate.
Anthony@Pixel-Trip: Animals In the Wordplace is inspired by real life events, the desire to make others laugh, and the interesting world of animals. It is fun for me to imagine what would happen if i were a rhino and i were in an office situation. It was, after all, my college nickname. In the future I will dive into how the relationships can be affected by competing species: in an office, do hawks still eat mice? Do dogs still chase lasers across the floor?
If this is the first time someone is visiting Pixel-Trip, what should they look at first?
Dan@Pixel-Trip: We have a great team and they should really take the time to check out each section. Also, I would stress that they head on over to the forums and get involved in the discussion.
What inspired you to create the website?
Dan@Pixel-Trip: The site really started about two years ago when Anthony@Pixel-Trip and I had the idea to create an animated cartoon. This project never really panned out. Since then Anthony and I have always discussed doing a web comic. In conjunction with that, Joe@Pixel-Trip and I were discussing making short YouTube videos. I had the idea to combine the two into one website and Pixel Trip was born. As a bonus the animated cartoon Anthony and I were working on was reborn into Anthony’s comic: Animals in the Workplace.
What are your plans for the future of the website?
Dan@Pixel-Trip: Obviously we would all love to make this our full time job but we have a ways to go before that can happen. Right now our main objective is to just spread the word so we can build a community of followers.
What are the Pixel Trip Coins all about and what can you do with the coins you earn?
Dan@Pixel-Trip: The pixels are points that earn users ranks and achievements. In the future we would like to have the pixels be used to unlock bonus content and towards coupons for future merchandise.
